South beach bird walk...Chatham Ma.

a
Howdy all,
Jeff and I have been enjoying Cape Cod. Left Homey and Ballie with mom and dad in Ledyard and packed a suitcase...yuck...
We have settled in to the house that the Smoots rent....very nice... I will take some pics and video of the home later. We have been biking the bike trail here...walking , shopping, beaching, reading, eating and relaxing.
Saturday, Jeff and I did a birding walk from Lighthouse beach Chatham to almost the end of South beach....round trip about 12 miles...a tough hike to do in sand on a hot day with a back pack...but we had a beautiful day.

Cresent Beach Day Pot luck dinner and mushroom talk

Last Saturday Jeff and I, Tammy and Joe went to Crescent beach day....My sister Lori and family, and brother John and Barbara are members of this beach.

We went to the craft fest where my brother in law Attillio was selling his hand made birdhouses, my sister in law, Barbara was selling her clay figurines and niece Tara was offering facials. The rain closed the booths down early...but luckily it cleared later in the day for the Pot luck.

sunday we went to Connecticut College to look at mushrooms and learn a bit about the ones that grow here on the east coast.

Samarrahs Bat Mitzvah

Howdy all,

Our daughter Samarrah had her Bat Mitzvah this past Friday, along with 25 other fellow classmates who studied Hebrew and other things Jewish ...traditions, Torah....etc.
Through a group funded by Birthright Israel.

It was a very nice evening....with 25 young adults telling their stories...of why they were not bar or bat mitzvahed at age 13....and why they have decided they wanted to do this now....
It was great to hear all the different stories...but one thing seemed constant amongst all....they felt that now .....they appreciate what this means more than what it would have as a 13 year old...".its not about the party or the presents",
as one of the students said....
now at this stage in their life...
Its about community, tradition, and heritage.
Its about making the choice to..
connect to their roots.
Their Jewishness....

Samarrah wrote a beautiful poem....you can hear that on the video....
enjoy....
