Catalina clouds..Skywatch Friday

I recently found these cloud photos, that I had forgotten to post.

They were from our visit to Catalina State park in Tucson, AZ.

One of our favorite state parks.

It was a cold morning.. We had a recent rain storm.. Which left snow on the mountains..When in Arizona we always spend some time at this park..Great hikes and birding 

And wonderful scenes in our backyard So far this State park has survived the cutbacks in Arizona.. Hopefully it will remain open so that we can visit this beautiful park again.

Saguaro animals and people…

That's what I think this cactus is saying…

Howdee!

When out hiking around the area..we see many Saguaro cactus..

Each one so very different..

(Humor me…some of these you will see and some you wont)

Some sport tails…

Others give hugs… Some profess their strength

This one lifts a small weight…    Some Dance..Ole Ole….Lobster Claws….  A pat on the back… folded arms….Why do you think the one on the left is so surprised?…;0OH NO!    Giving praise…. Hi there Jeff!This ones being presented with bunny ears….Flowers for my love…  Saguaro age…they fall and decay like trees..Other times they die still standing.. Some look like brooms…the ribs separate..I am not sure what type of cactus this was below..

We leave Tucson in a few days..i will miss the forests of Saguaro.. Goodbye for now Saguaros….see you next visit…

Catalina State park bird walk, Tucson, AZ

Howdee all,

Every Friday when camped at Catalina State Park we go on the morning bird walk led by a volunteer.

We started off our last bird walk with a pair of Coopers Hawks..

male with his back to us.. Female on the opposite side of the path..

Some of the birders are locals, snowbirds or campers..

We were so lucky to see this Western Screech owl warming up in the morning sun

  Distant views of Loggerhead shrike My favorite bird of the day recently arrived from the south..

He is my spark bird..

Six years ago today, when in Catalina state park..

I saw this red beauty..

He sparked my interest in birding…
