Home made rocks and other chores

Howdee all,

Today Adele and I worked on her patio..Carthage is in the Sand hills of NC. therefore there are very few rocks to be found. Rather than buy rocks for a patio…Adele likes to make them.

CIMG3375

Here Adele starts the process by adding two bags of cement that has gravel in it…with some peat moss.

CIMG3381

About Half of that black container of Peat is all that is mixed with the cement.CIMG3383

The consistency is flexible, not too liquid..but thick enough to lift up and put in a form. CIMG3392 Here we are using the bottom part of a milk carton to hold the cement.

CIMG3393

Then just plot the cement down…play around with the shape and you have a rock. CIMG3395CIMG3394 CIMG3396 CIMG3397There are many things that you can make with the mixture.

Just subject to your imaginationCIMG3400And Creativity…

Its allot of fun…and when we are done with the Patio we have several walkways we want to do and a few gardens to border.

CIMG3402

After working on the Patio we spread around the Horse Manure that Craigy picked up..in his super cool Blue Truck.

CIMG3403  This is the third truckload…We need at least two more.

Doesn't our Homey look happy near the garden?CIMG3406 Look what showed up today…Female Blue Grosbeak..where did male go? He left a week ago.

Indigo bunting was here for two days and we haven't seen him again either. Usually there are at least six of them here at a time…

Rose-breasted Grosbeak was here this morning..but we worked in the Garden near the feeders and I haven't seen him back this afternoon.

All the birdies are arriving at least a week ahead of schedule.  What's that all about?

If you decide to make some rocks..I would love to see your creations..

Hope you all had a wonderful, creative day!

Crafty Ideas because I forgot my Memory again..

Howdee all,

Today we went to Bald Point State park near Panacea. Florida. Had a nice hike on the beach and collected a few treasures.
OK ..yet again I forget my Memory card for my camera...I thought for sure I put the card in the camera after downloading photos to my laptop...but...i didn't...
And both of Jeff's battery's ran out of gas on his camera...
So no photos today.

Instead
Here are some ideas of what to make with my treasure finds..
When we were in Apalachicola...we went to this funky store...interesting things made out of shells and driftwood.
this lamp below ..oyster shells glued around chandelier

I loved this use of driftwood..
a tower...put together with one central dowel.

A few days ago we were looking at these American Wigeons and this one male in particular looked very white faced. Is this normal?

Thats all for now...Have a nice night...and a better day tommorow!

Beautiful art ....Doodles by Tara

Howdy all....

Please check out the doodles that my niece Tara does....
They are wonderful.....magical....and make me happy to look at them.
I think she needs to sell these somehow...
I dont know how large the originals are....
but they would certainly make great fabrics, cards, art for walls....etc....
Any ideas?

Check out the website Lori made for her art doodles.....

Glass and Gems

Howdy all,

After reading my blog about the Tucson Gem show...Mom, Adele and Tammy wanted me too pick up some jewels for them....
Mom and Adele wanted the 2 dollar glass pendants...20 dollars worth each.
Tammy makes jewelry so she requested 40 dollars of beads.

Tucson Gem Show

Howdee all,

Today we went to the Gem show, well we only went to a few tents of gems.
The Gem show is huge....all over Tucson, tents tents and more tents of gems, rocks, sculpture, jewlery etc....
Lena wants to make a few necklaces and it will also be good therapy for her right hand.
It was great fun looking at all the gems.
The show goes on for most of the month so we plan on going back several times.
So far I havent purchased anything.
Lena found most of the gems for her necklaces.

Ideas for Decorating with shells or sea stones

Howdy,

I thought i would post these things i came across lately for all you Crafty people out there...and for my family who I recently gave rocks and shells, that I have collected.

Click on the above picture and you will see the website....Lots of ideas for smooth sea rocks....and if you dont want to make these things you can buy them.

I did a short video clip of the rock hooks I saw and a sea shell wreath..

I thought the rocks would look good in loris computer/tv room...where she has the curtain draped over the entry to the dining room....you could use the rock hooks to drape the curtain over.

Ok also you might want to check out this blog I found recently....called the fashionist.
fun fashions from the streets of san francisco.......
